Hey everybody, I have a question about magic online. Here is my system:
AMD Sempron 3100+
1GB PC3200 ram
40GB WD Hard drive
Wierd onboard VIA UniChrome video adaptor, not sure of memory size

I can get Magic online running, and it runs pretty well for the most part, none of the font problems others seem to have been having. The only thing is that its irritatingly slow. I'm in the process of thinking about putting a new system together, and wanted to know from those of you out there who run MTGO under wine on Feisty and get good results (if anyone does) just what kind of hardware setups were running it well, so i'd know more what to look for when i build my new computer. Or, if anyone knows any little tweaks to get the program running better on the hardware i have.

Thanks in advance,
TIM

Hi
I used to be able to run MTGO really well on my system. However, the other day I had to reinstall Ubuntu 7.04 (for various reasons) and now I cannot get the MTGO installer to work. I think my system might have upgraded to a newer version of wine which isn't as compatible...?

Initially after extracting from the .exe file I got the "failed to find font" message. But then after installing msttcorefonts and copying the font files into the .wine folder, the installer doesn't appear to run. After running it in the terminal it said it could not find a .dll file but the file was clearly present in the right folder.

Anyway, was wondering if you could let me know how you got it running, what version of wine, etc?

Thanks!!

i pretty much just installed ubuntu 7.04 straight off the disc, and then downloaded the .exe from magicthegathering.com, ran the wine command in terminal and it worked by itself from there. i'm running wine version 0.9.33, and as far as configuration and whatnot, it should all be defaults. sorry, i dont really know a whole lot about configuring wine... but i hope that info helps.
