I am an Ubuntu newbie looking at transferring from my current Debian on Dell configuration. Unfortunately, there appears to be an issue with using software RAID in conjunction with a packaged kernel compiled with Himem support (I need 2Gb support). The issue is that it appears that I cannot boot on software raid with one of the updated kernels. I would really like to stay with packaged kernels as my experience with compiling custom kernels for support on our collection of various Dell boxes has been somewhat abysmal. Has anyone experienced this and knows how to fix, or am I just doing something wrong?
