Hi,
I'm struggling to get some unicode symbols into Xaralx. The Xara web-side recommends various tricks with ALT then numbers, but this doesn't seem to work for me. Copy and paste from the gnome character-map isn't working either.
I have a Swedish keyboard, but LANG=en_US.UTF-8, with Fiesty gnome setup.
Tips appreciated.

Bump .... since I really would like to get this working.
Is anyone using unicode in xaralx with fiesty?

I've done a bit of research on this. Xara is my favorite graphics package. In the beginning, Xara had problems with extra characters. According to the TalkGraphics forum, the fix happened in the original Xara as a Windows registry codepage -- not good, not abstract enough. Other users loaded up alternate keyboards in Windows and that seems to help them.
Now, for the Linux version of Xara, which is incomplete in some of its features. The CMMD+' keyboard shortcuts don't work. The import filters are also incomplete in Linux Xara. Linux Xara ignores the Linux clipboard. I would opinion that Unicode seems to be something that is tacked on to Windows products in most cases.
What I've done as a work-around is to use FontForge. I duplicate the font I want then I have swapped special characters like umlaut " ü " with the Latin "u", as a for instance. I would also recommend FontyPython to manage your custom fonts into work sets.
