Just wondering if anybody in the Ubuntu world has the VW fever?
Right now I own a 1966 Deluxe Bus, but in the past I've had:
'69 Baja Beetle
'71 Karmann Ghia
'78 Westfalia Camper Bus
What about you?

I wish i could find one of those old diesel rabbits. those were damn good cars.
My dad was telling me his first 5 cars were the original bugs (i was born in 1982, so i never had the pleasure of owning one). He loved them he said he would trade any car he's owned since for one of those cars.

a friend of mine used to own one of the old beetles from the 70's.
man, that thing was a death trap in the wintertime. no heater, no defroster, 4 drum brakes, and straps of nylon as seatbelts, did i mention NO HEATER!! (ooh the pain of frostbite!)
in the summer it was fun tho. we would beat the heck out of it. i learned the art of speed shifting in that thing :D (driving stick without using the clutch)
he just got rid of it about a month ago and bought a corolla, not nearly as much fun!

Yah, it would kinda suck to drive one in the dead of winter in Toronto...

I had a 69 beetle and loved it. I like most of all of the old VW's. I have recently been thinking about buying an old beetle and converting it to a dune buggy for fun.

I don't have any vintage VWs, but I bought my first VW in January: a 2005 Jetta TDI. I absolutely love it! Great gas mileage, too.
Thankfully, my Jetta is NOT the new "Toyota Corolla" body style.

if VW came out with a remade Karmann Ghia--in the same way they came out with a New Beetle--I'd be very interested. As I recall, there was a ragtop Karmann, too, right? I'd definitely get one of those, beause the present VW Cabrio is fugly.

Some say that the updated Karmann Ghia is the Audi TT...
And no, they did not make a ragtop Karmann Ghia, but they did make a convertible.
