Hey, I was looking into getting a Wacom Tablet, as I heard that those are highly compatible with Ubuntu, i was wondering, what is a good size to get? I was looking into maybe trying to create a web comic, and also I'm starting to use GIMP alot and am looking into web development(banners and logos and stuff) and programming (mainly game programming), and I only have the touchpad on my laptop right now, which isn't that good for drawing. I read on a web comic site, that the guy who does them uses a 9x12 tablet, (like this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10058629&catid= ) but that seems REALLY expensive, What size do you suggest?

even a 4x5 wacom tablet is HIGHLY useful compared to a mouse. i had a 4x5 tablet, and later upgraded to a 6x8. the 6x8 is a nice size. honestly it's sensitive enough, you wont miss not having a 9x12. both the 4x5 and the 6x8 i have were both really great. the nice thing about the 4x5 is that it's compact. 6x8 seems like the perfect size for general use. a 9x12 tablet, is HUGE. and while im sure it's nice. theres not much of a need for it. even the 4x5 is super sensitive. i had no problem drawing on either. one thing though, make sure the drawing surface is clean. if you draw even with a hair on it, you could scratch the surface. though the surface is replacable, and a scratch doesn't ruin the tablet or anything. it's a good idea to clean it before you use it.

if you have a really really large monitor consider getting a bigger tablet. because the tablet size maps to the screen.
