Desktop managers

What are some alternative Desktop/Icon, etc. Managers out there? I know about Beryl (now Compiz Fusion) and such window managers, but I don't see too many desktop managers. Specifically, I'm looking for more interesting icon drawing, transparency, the like, and the whole viewports thing beryl supports but GNOME doesn't.
