Hi guys! I really like bumping around sites to discover new, mostly unsigned music, but there's a lot of junk in-between, so I'd like to hear some of your favorite either local bands or just something you came across that's awesome.
I guess I'll get the ball rolling with the first thing outta the top of my head, my brother's soon-to-debut band Kato: Kato at Myspace (http://myspace.com/katosite)
And here's another danish lo-fi electronica/indie band called Veto - Popular in DK, but might as well pimp it a bit:
Veto - You're a Knife (http://www.mymusic.dk/funktioner/afspiller/?id=44679)
Now get some more in here!

I was impressed with this Canadian guy a few years back... The song 'My Wife' is real catchy...

Metal band from Quebec called "Sudden Flames"
http://www.suddenflames.com/
They opened for Paul Dianno, and I had to buy their 3 song sampler. Looks like they're recording an album finally!
Another metal band from Finland called Altaria.

They opened for Paul Dianno,
Paul Dianno, wasn't he the old lead singer from Iron Maiden? God, I haven't heard that name in ages... Paul Dianno's Battlefield was the band or something like that. Man, long time ago...

Here's a pretty cool album I discovered - http://www.lunarmusic.net/
The entire album is free to download. It's sort of a mix between orchestral and electronic.

'Pride City Purpose' is a hip-hop / soul group I recently found on myspace:
http://www.myspace.com/pridecpurpose
I messaged them and asked for some of their music to have and give to friends, they're mailing me 10 promo cds and encouraged me to share any mp3s I rip from them. This is the kind of artist that deserve support, not most of the countless greedy and talentless hacks on myspace.

Yes he was. He put on a hell of a great show too! The place was packed with walking Iron Maiden T-Shirts.

I've come across a few bands/singers over the years...my tastes might be a bit...weird..? Ranging from Celtic to heavy metal to I guess what's considered new age
Blackmore's Night: http://www.blackmoresnight.com/
Nightwish: http://www.nightwish.com/ (Finnish heavy/opera metal band. Just got a new lead singer)
Emma Shaplin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Shapplin
Loreena Mckinnett: http://www.quinlanroad.com/
Azam Ali, (solo) then she's sung lead for Vas & Niyaz: http://www.azamalimusic.com/
Sasha Lazard: http://www.sashalazard.com/
E.S Posthumus: http://www.esposthumus.com/ Kind of...techno? Eletronic? Their stuff has been used in trailers and (I think) CSI. Found them by accident. Was watching one a trailer a while back. Believe it was for Spider-Man 3, heard this awesome music, and wanted to know where it came from. Stumbled upon this group.
Wide Awake. Local Austin band. http://www.myspace.com/wideawake
