Since I am new to the Linux world, I had a question about installing firestarter. What is the best and easiest way to install firestarter on my ubuntu os.

Copy, paste and ENTER this in a "terminal window":
sudo apt-get install firestarter
You'll find it in System> Administration. Run it, configure it, and close it. No need to keep it running, it configures the firewall, it is NOT the firewall itself. Here's (http://www.fs-security.com/docs/interface.php) how to use it. Hope this helps. :)

Ok. I hope I don't sound stupid asking this question but what exactly is a terminal window and how do you go there?

It's an interface for entering commands. You can find it in Applications/Accessories/Terminal. Open it and enter the command in the above post.

The easiest way is to look on your main Applications menu, at the bottom is an entry labeled "Add/Remove Applications", select that.
When the windows opens, make sure that the drop box at the top right has "All available applications" selected, then in the search box type: fire
It should then show Firestarter, simply select it and click on OK :).
