Are there any universities that use mostly open source software on their computers?

I'm really just curious.

Most places use a happy mix of Linux, Unix, Windows and Mac, just to be sure everyone can use what they want :)

My school doesn't use any linux or open source software in the common student labs. I don't know why they don't just use Open Office instead of MS Office, at least on the majority of the computes around campus.

Apart from a Unix cluster for running complex engineering apps, i don't know of any FOSS used at my Uni. They even use Microsoft Outlook Web Access for us to access or e-mail accounts ffs!

[edit] i just remembered. Some ex-student fitted a whole of a classroom with Macs. Unfortunately he was a Physics student so i don't get to touch it. Apparently it cost him A LOT. Must be doing well for himself.

I know Loughborough University in leicestershire has a cluster of Linux servers, all mail and web is handled by linux servers, and there is at least two classrooms of linux only computers.

Instituto Superior Técnico @ Lisbon

It also has Windows and Mac's, but there are mostly Linux computers and all the servers are Linux based

My school (Suny IT) has a couple *nix labs (Gentoo and FreeBSD), and generally supports OSS software in their downloads section. That said, there is still a lot of non-free software used. We still have MSDNAA access, we use a Domino server for our email, and of course most people cling to MS Office for personal use (although the CS dept is good about using OO.o)
