I feel daft for asking, but I'm just not sure.

I know Debian has Etch, Lenny & Sid.

Am I right in thinking that the best version to use as a wee dedicated server (I've just bought one) should be Etch? Due to it's stability, security updates and no real need of fiercely up-to-date packages?

Am I thinking along the right lines? Could someone please explain the merits of each? And I mean in "real life" terms... as I know unstable isn't really that unstable at all.

Thanks :)

I'd go for stable and (at the most) get inividual packages from testing, when needed that is..
The Debian standard of stability is the best you can get.. You can run your server and not reboot the next 35 years..

Yes, etch is best if you don't want surprizes.

Thanks, now I just to wait for them to set the server up...
