Should they not have their own sub-forum within Desktop effects and customization.

Not everyone is interested in them etc and you have to go through page after page to find information on other desktop related posts.

You have a good point.

I've noticed however that many such threads don't deal with anything Ubuntu-specific (or simply repeat information that's already on the forum), and arguably shouldn't really be here to begin with. Perhaps that's why the forum administration hasn't created a place for them.

Either way, I second your suggestion. it would be nice to be able to make some sort of distinction between these and other desktop customisation issues.

"desktop related posts" which are to do with Gnome, or Kde for example should go in the "Desktop Environments" subforum. Desktop E & C is for "bling" like compiz and beryl.
