I've had Vista for a while but I've only recently started booting into it for normal use. Can anyone suggest a decent media player for Windows that is similar to Amarok or Exaile? I'm having trouble finding a good app that'll organize my music.
Edit: Typos, excuse my engrish.

You can have a look at Mediamonkey, it is very similar to Rhythmbox / Amarok / Exaile. I use it in Windows.

Foobar (http://www.foobar2000.org/).
Infinitely configurable and lightweight.

MusikCube (http://www.musikcube.com/) is a decent player. If you're willing to put some effort into customizing it, Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/) is good also.

I use Exaile on Linux, of course:guitar:.
I went with Songbird for Windows Vista.

Another option would be The KMPlayer (www.kmplayer.com).

whoa, I can't believe that you actually use Vista, considering the fact that you use Ubuntu. My mum's laptop came with it, and it's a 2.0 GHZ with 2 GB ddr2 and it runs like XP on a "desigened for 95" computer(maybe that's a bit far)
I use MediaMonkey and iTunes alternatively, and use WMP like I use XMMS in Linux(directly playing the file)

Hi There,
I'm a windows vista user and although I admit that it is a really good platform - I too noticed that there are no decent media players out there. Itunes and WMP really don't cut the mustard!
I read your forum post and retried songbird, but I get the feeling there are still major issues that need to be fixed and I like to keep my music and internet seperate. I get the sense that songbird is like a mutated firefox, but noone wants to develop it.
I returned back to media monkey now in its 3rd release (I'd originally stopped using it when I moved to Vista because the UI was very XP looking) Boy was I amazed!
If you're a music lover and you have a medium to large sized library, MediaMonkey is definitely the best media player for you... If you're a fan of open source code definitely choose media monkey. It has so many useful features that even Itunes and WMP haven't begun to look at.
It is along the lines of Winamp but much better...
1.
If you want a decent skin to match the Vista UI you need the WMP11 skin. It looks even cleaner than windows media player.
2.
If you want a bit of bling try Monkey Rok 3.2.
3.
Genre Finder and Auto Rate Accurate make maintaining your library sooo much easier.
4.
Finally (the piece de resistance) add LastFM dj. This auto-dj app goes to Last FM to find a related artist and track from within your library and adds it to the now playing.
With MediaMonkey, listening to music has never been so fun! If you're into customizing your apps (Firefox, etc.) try mediamonkey.. okay it takes a bit of fiddling to get it off the ground, but if you're into trawling forums for updated code..
I don't normally write on forums, but having read your post I had to do this... mediamonkey does everything that Itunes and WMP do and more, not only this - it does it with out the in your face 'istore' and over developed, corporate graphical interface.
Don't be fooled by the dated looking website:
www.mediamonkey.com (http://mediamonkey.com)
Give it a try!
