As there's been some reported problems with this rather excellent Simcity game, I though I'd hack up a little HOWTO for compiling it from source.

nice work, and thanks for bringing out this great game. Altough I decided to try first the autopackage, witch worked nice for me (k7 kernel and ATI card).

It was a while ago now, but IIRC the package just wouldn't install anything. I ran as a normal user & I guess it authenticated with gksu/sudo since it asked for my pass.

OK. I'm afraid that's a bit vague to debug the problem, but if you remember any more details (or try again) let us know.

Autopackage mostly worked for me.
Had to download the package libstdc++6, then the game ran perfectly.
Thanks for pointing this gem out!

Nice job; I managed to install the Autopackage successfully, though.
