View Full Version : [SOLVED] How to shutdown Compiz Fusion without bringing my system to its knees?

I love Compiz Fusion, but it doesn't play well with certain applications, and so there are times when I want to go back to just plain old Metacity. However, typing killall compiz.real from the terminal usually results in disaster... the windows don't behave properly, and usually I end up having to hit ctrl-alt-backspace to fix it. I know there's got to be an easier, simpler way than that... at least, I hope there is.

Thanks for any help or advice.

Nevermind. I installed fusion-icon as per this:

And that worked.

If you ever need a method to shutdown Compiz Fusion via terminal, its:
metacity --replace
