im having some trouble with the 64bit version of pidgin:

1)when selecting "send file" i can only select one file (ie. if i vant to send 100 files ill either have to compress them or acces the send file menu 100 times) i have experienced this problem with 32bit pidgin too so its not necessarily 64bit connected

2)I cant get pidgin to show any display image

3)in conversations pidgin only shows very small representations of the respective person's display image.

Um

1.?Not 64bit relevant
2.Restart if you selected one
3.That is the design of Pidgin. Hover over the name so you can see full size img

Pidgin is not the same as Gaim? I used Gaim but... the word is: ugly

aMSN is a multi-protocol client, or just msn?

To address a couple of points in this thread:

If you're going to transfer 100 files, it's probably a good idea to compress them first anyway. :)
Yes, Gaim was ugly, but Pidgin is purdy. (Tango icons for the win!)
Emesene shows a lot of potential and will almost certainly become my messenger of choice in the future (since I only have MSN contacts anyway). But as long as it doesn't have file transfers, its use is rather limited.
Pidgin has made a couple of (in my opinion at least) poor design decisions in their 2.1.0 release. I suggest complaining to the Pidgin devs and downgrading to 2.0.2 in the mean time. Though I'm not sure they'll want to "fix" this, because AIM uses small icons, and the Pidgin devs want to have a consistent UI.

where should i complain about the abominable look pidgin is begining to have (i dont only mean the display images, but also those anime-trend smileys) ?
and is there any way to select more than one file for transfer in one go ?

I like the way pidgin (or gaim or whatever is called) works, but it looks ugly, and pidgin 2.1 is uglyest than ever. I know it is multiprotocol (and does the work as it has to be done) but as msn is "the protocol" (sorry guys) it should be more emphatic on it.

i was asking where i can complain about pidgin, not what protocol you use.

How about at the Pidgin homepage? ;)

where exactly? there doesnt seem to be any section for suggestions or complaints, and i cant seriously file this as a bug either:confused:

still, ANY HELP WITH THE MULTIPLE FILE TRANSFER ISSUE? :)

File transfers suck in Pidgin, and they do in many messengers. I don't think you can drag multiple files or folders into Pidgin. File transfers in Pidgin are not good enough for me, so I use Skype. Many file transfers fail and generally I don't think Pidgin supports the latest file transfer protocol for each of the messenger protocols it supports.

If you want something like the excellent file transfers we had in ICQ professional, then I do not think Pidgin can help you, neither can Skype. I really miss the file transfer capability ICQ offered.

Bug reports are called tickets on the website:
http://developer.pidgin.im/simpleticket

You can submit a request for an enhancement. There are several types of tickets. Thats how people tell the developers about wishes and ideas. People will usually beat you to death on forums if you cannot suggest a different approach or have better ideas, but that is ******** IMHO. It is vital to tell developers and companies that SOME people don't like the products anymore. You might be one of many. Whether they use the feedback or not is up to them, but you should share your opinion with them.

Great.... it seems as if the pidgin community is deserted... i cant see any dev anywhere... do you know any other multi-protocol client that has file transfer support?
