alrite, i got myself a laptop a few days ago.
Samsung Q70 13.3
Core 2 Duo 7100 FSB 800MHz
Nvidia 8400m
2G DDR2 667
Ubuntu7.04 Feisty 64 bit

Rite now using VESA drivers, these seemed to be the only driver i can use now.
I googled around and checked the forum, nothing seem to work really.
I tried to get the Envy script, but I guess the server is down.

Let me give u my xorg.conf

Here is the home page so you can read it first : http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-glx* nvidia-settings linux-restricted-modules*
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
wget http://albertomilone.com/ubuntu/nvidia/scripts/envy_0.9.7-0ubuntu8_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i envy*.deb
sudo envy -t

As the nvidia script runs, allow it to configure X (xorg.conf).

The, restart X :
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

Once you are in X you can configure (dual monitors, resolution, etc) with gksudo nvidia-settings[/QUOTE]

If you need a restricted driver for say, your wireless connection or something I think you need to leave the respective restricted module alone. I've never tried it so I'm not sure if you can leave it or if you have to compile other restricted drivers from source too.

hi,
I'm thinking about getting the Q70, so I'd be interesting in knowing how you got the nVidia graphics working. Did you have any problem with the wireless as well - I noticed that there's another thread somewhere with someone having trouble with wreless - did you have any trouble with that and if sodid you get it working?

Also have you upgraded to Gutsy and if so, was/are there any issues there?

regards,
Dave
