pupular science article submition (http://www.popsci.com/popsci/contactus1/)

Came across this today while visiting the popular science web site. Aperently you can submit an article preposal and and if accepted write a article on a subject such as Ubuntu Linux. They do a lot of computer stuff with many small and large articles pertaining to computers. They even had how to install a new hard drive how to at one time.

Personaly I don't think im ready to write an artical but if someone else wan't to give it a try.

Popular Science probably isn't ready for a subject as specific as Ubuntu; I think a general overview of Linux would make a more appropriate article for them.

I would give it a shot but I'm not allowed to duel-boot on the family computer.

Probably not the same kind of article you would find in a Linux mag but definatly an overview of how far Linux has come may go over well. Of course Ubuntu seems to be leading that charge in easier installs and user friendlyness.

well... it's not leading in user friendlyness ad ease of install, but it's a nice comprimise for getting it to be fast and fit on one disk

i'd say Xandros and Linspire are leading in those categories

Seeing as how it's Popular Science, an article that deals with the use of Linux (or even better OSS) in the scientific community would be doubly appropriate.

popsci is somewhere inbetween science and tech... more on the tech side

Yeah, it's not really a science mag. For that you need Scientific American, or maybe Discovery, or one of the specialty mags. But Linux coverage would fit better in PopSci. (SciAm started a tech column not long ago; it actually feels very out of place in the mag IMHO.)
