Hello,
Simple,
499 = 500 - 1
hence 7 * 499 = 7 * (500 -1) = 3500 -7 = 3493
110 = 100 + 10
1004 = 1000 + 4,
12 * 2.5 = 12(2 + 1/2) = 24 + 6 = 30
27(2 1/3) = 27(2 + 1/3) = 54 + 9 = 63
and so on.
