once i want to install samba package...from the root terminal....

It display that no gcc, and cc.......

gcc 4.0.1 is already in the backports.

sudo apt-get install gcc-4.0

I wouldn't recommend it until more programs use it. I've been using Fedora Core 4 for awhile and while its good it isn't 100% compatible yet. Just wait a little bit longer till most things are built on gcc-4
