AOE3 installation problem

I am trying to find a good HOWTO for installing and playing AO3 using wine.

The only one i can find is http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=3795

It says the first thing to do is copy all 3 cd's to harddrive. I am doing that using the following command


dd if=/dev/cdrom of=disk1.iso


When I do that I get the following error after a while

dd: reading /dev/cdrom': Input/Output Error


Is that a problem like a scratch on the cd, or is that a protection thing? Is it really necessary to copy every install disk to my harddrive?

Disks 2 and 3 actually copy ok

Is there another program i can use to try copying?

I got disk1 copied to ISO using K3B

Is there anybody that can help me with the install process? I am not having any luck with running any of the executables like autorun.exe and setup.exe
