Hi to everybody!
My friend wants a live linux distro that save configuration files to disk or usb. He have very little knowledge of linux. I recommended him Puppy but he wasn't very happy with it because it was hard to use and he don't like icewm and jwm and he wants one more eyecandy desktop like gnome or kde or maybe xfce.
is there any live distribution that have the ability like puppy to save configuration files on disk or usb?
thanks

PCLinuxOS has an option for installing to a USB connected hard drive. That's not just configuration files but the entire OS. Obviously, the computer would be able to boot from a USB device..It's a great OS with Synaptic Manager for downloading software just like Ubuntu. I think you would have to know a lot about Linux to save only configuration files to a Flash drive. (FAT32 formatted etc..etc..) but someone else might come up with a solution.

I'd certainly add dyne:bolic (http://www.dynebolic.org/)to that list - especially if your friend wants media apps pre-installed. It now has an Xfce desktop.

I wouldn't recommend Slax because you need to mess with commands in order to save. Not good for a beginner. I assume Wolvix is the same way, but I am not sure.
