You all must have seen those cool flash website templates out there. Something like http://www.2advanced.com
I've seen similar effects done with smaller scale web templates people can purchase online for their website.
My question is, how do they do them? Is this clearly Flash only with scripting? I can do simple things in flash (no scripting) and if I was wondering how they make those websites. Must be a lot of work with flash. Or are there other programs out there that make life easier?

Hmm, you're really posting this in the wrong section, but I'd assume you'd need to do some ActionScript. However, as far as I'm informed, there is no application for Linux that will create Flash presentations/websites/applets, etc. Besides, Flash websites are annoying and stupid; take up learning proper HTML and CSS instead. :)

Yes I agree. I prefer nice clean and simple websites. Just out of curiosity though. I know there is no application for Linux, I was talking general window$ and all.

Ah, well in that case, you're posting in the wrong section. Not a major problem though; I'm sure the mods will be more than happy to move the thread.

Yes, I looked at the section Multimedia and Video and was not sure, so I posted here. Sorry. And I cannot move it myself

In short you're saying, "since Linux can't do it, it must be stupid". Spoken like a true sheep. There are tons of websites that incorporate various portions of flash. Flash is awesome. Why don't you learn how to do it before slamming it.

Not at all; not at all---I never liked Flash-based websites when using an OS X or Windows system, either (I've done both). Because I don't see why you need an application like Flash to display the content---as we can all agree, when going to a website, the content is the most important part of it, and thus it shouldn't be cluttered and obscured with something like Flash.
Being a web developer myself, I like to try and stick to the latest web standards; if you want something flashy, use AJAX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX)

This is a matter of preference..
It's up to the designer to decide what he needs to get his message across.
You may not need Flash to create an informative or entertaining site, but nor do you need JavaScript, animated gifs, CSS, server side code or AJAX (certainly not a proven standard yet).
