inspiron 9300 modem question

well, i have kubuntu 7 on my inspiron 9300. wondering if anyone would know how i could get the modem working on, i have dialup at home. its not really mission critical or anything, since i have a windows ICS machine that i can connect through. but if i travel around somewhere that theres no wireless, it would be nice to have it working. more or less a finishing touch

i'm pretty sure it worked in fedora 6 before a while ago when i had that installed, it did dial, but never connected, i dunno. wasnt too concerned about it then either. i can make due without

Have you tried the driver that Dell released for Conexant winmodems? no, cant say i have. i tried looking for linux drivers, but all i got for every model i searched, were diagnostic tools and bios updates

i see thats for a 6400....never checked that one.....pretty sad....i used to work for dell on call :S

figured id post back here. i tried that modem driver. and it seems to work on my 9300. i used kppp to dial out, seemed to connect just fine. couldnt browse the web though. but i think thats a seperate issue
