Thats cool. i dont know any programing language. I understand how psudocode and scritpting works, and oop, but i have the slightest on syntax and different language implementation, etc. I was wanting to learn C sharp. I dont even know what that is, but I was told by an avid programmer that its the most vast and uniform language to star off with.
VB is just LAME. I've tried it, but it shouldnt even be called programing.

C# is very good, but I think it is recommended to start off with C. If my school offers a beginner's programming course next year I might learn C.

Well the mods say that you should bump after someone else bumps... and if you bump again, do it within a reasonable time. Say you bump now, and no one else bumps within 10 minutes, then you can bump again. I think that's reasonable. But whatever.

simple math. each post must be posted at an interval of 20 seconds. you've got 3995 posts.

I've spent 5.6666 hours in the bump thread. assuming I bumped at exactly 20 second intervals. which I did not so my realized time is closer to 10 hours. or more. That's a lot of time if you think about it.

I think I'm going to devote the next 5.6666 hours to figuring out why my asus laptop doesn't reinitialize it's back light after suspend.

I know what you mean. its just one of those programs that cannot convert. I dont know, AutoDesk really got all 'Big Corporate-y'.

I started using AC since R14. The last version iv used was 2002 lite (at school). But im sure they havent changes much since then.

isint there a well suited FOSS app that does [almost] the same stuff. CAD is just CAD when you look at it.

they are deep in with microsoft and both have monopolies to protect. one can hope that the new tech czar will look at some of these and open .dwf gains some real ground and Autocad is forced to comply.

unfortunately not for what I do. the problem is .dwf compatibility. you lose a lot in the traslations from open .dwf to autocad. layers etc... really makes working in a multi user environment near impossible.

plus the company I do a lot of work for uses a third party sql overlay product for autocad called vid cad.

my dad who also does a lot of design work in the same industry isn't as restricted and he uses a program called visual cad that is just 2d and is a direct off shoot of generic cad. autodesk even owned them for a time. they're not very compatible with wine either mostly because of the way that wines directory calls are made.

lol, I'll try...

Say I have a window in the foreground, ok? And there is a window in the background, behind it. The window in the front is not as big as the window in the back.. now say I want to do something in the window in the back, I click somewhere inside that window..and you would think that that window would be brought to the foreground, right? Wrong..it stays in the background and the only way to bring it to the front is by minimizing the windows in front of it or clicking on the window border.. very odd behavior, it sure as hell wasn't like this in any previous version of Ubuntu.

hey, it happens. I ran into a bug once when i installed a proxy app. It constantly redirected any http request to localhost 4008, or something like that. Everything. FF, synaptic, update manager. Except for apt-get and aptitude. Nothing else worked. Then, i looked up the bug in Launchpad, and lo! there it was, a bunch of others had a similar problem when installing anon-proxy (or soemthign like that). I have no idea how i fixed it, but i ended up doing a clean reinstall anyway.
