I also just don't see how people can enforce it.

I've almost got the script to work across to hyperboard/proboard forums(since they both use the same base), I just need to make the last few edits to get it running, I do love the fact that those forums default to the last page though, makes it much easier to clean the script up :p

autobump now works on hyperboards and similar boards, so You can find the latest version there once I've had a chance to upload it, some new features include the ability to say the above posters name, improved performance and cleaner code.

There's also an option now for what you want the bumps to start with, if anything.

Full compatability with this site has been kept, so this forum should still work(although it has not had an actual posting test, but it simulates posts perfectly, so I can't imagine a problem).

maybe I should change it's numbering, since it was such a major update, you know, making it work with 2 types of board now, as well as establishing a way for it to run on even more forums in future, that's ignoring it's better layout for the code, improved logging methods and better performance(slightly), perhaps 2.0 would be a better version number?

some programs do it deliberately, that's called caching, and is basicly the idea of storing things in ram that you don't need now, but are likely to use, that way those things load faster than they otherwise would(or for browsers, like firefox, it's done by downloading pages you've already opened to disk so that it doesn't always need to download them unless they change).

A memory leek is where you are losing memory because of a bug or flaw in the system, which cause a waste of memory, it's normally the result of making too many variables, or as in the case of my code by assuming an object would clean itself up(which it doesn't, the class stores a log of the history up to 230 pages, which is quite a size...)

EDIT: I don't think I want a GUI for it, since I kind of like the idea of just leaving it running in the background, although a GUI could be fun for those of you who don't like editing the file or whatever, I suppose then though I'll need to make a separate config file huh?

I think that the GUI would be good for just a few on the fligh mods and the rest of the time the text is good for me. BUMP!

I'm warming to the idea of 1 or 2 config files(think how easy it would be if you didn't need to edit each version of the file to upgrade, and how great would it be to have the bumps in a text file, that way you could change them on the fly as pinky wants :p), anyone any more ideas for 1.7 though, other than the fix of the bump number?

hmn, it would be intresting to be able to throw in a whole bunch of thead IDs to a variant of this code, and have it watch the threads for you, logging them either to a text file, or a window, letting you easily navigate them, the problem as I see it is that the ram usage would be larger than firefox's, since perl is so inefficient(even if the code is 1/3 of the size) in terms of ram.
