You can activate the multiquote feature by clicking the button at between the quote and quick reply buttons, you click that button on every post you want to quote. Then click the quote button on any of the posts you clicked the multiquote on and you´re good to go, the reply page appears with all the posts quoted properly.

you don't need to click multiquote on the last one your quoting BTW, and you need javascript enabled.

I switched to Kubuntu, KDE rocks, I love it! Not the WM itself, but the KDE goodies seem better to me than the GTK alternatives, ex. Klipper, Keep, KTorrent, Konqueror, Krusader etc. On the other hand, GnomeDo is way better than Katapult, it remembers my preferences for more frequently used commands, I sadly miss that feature from Katapult.

Wow, that must have been a while ago.

The good thing about the GNOME vs KDE mess is that it keeps the dewelopers working hard on both. I just don't like KDE's "open source Windows" style, but it does look nicer by default, and KDE4 is integrating all types of desktop effects previously only available via Beryl or Compiz - GNOME is far from that, if it ever gets there - they don't really care much about eye-candy.

hold down right click instead of pressing it? it never occurs then.

The problem(if I'm correct) is a slight movment to the left(and maybe down) as you click, which causes firefox to assume your after the first option(since for some reason the selection and right click menu appear/are activated BOTH on mouse down and mouse up, yeah, go figure logic behind that). Holding down the mouse solves this, although it's not a great solution.

virtualbox and gaming are my 2 big ram eaters(as is Xorg really, stupid thing starts off taking about 50MB of ram, then slowly grows till it's over 100(takes days BTW), and there's 2 of them, so it's not a small price really), ktorrent is in there as well(since I've had it eating over 200MB before now(OK, so I was running 20+ torrents, who cares, I'd only set 2 of them to download)).

I've got 1GB of swap, and normaly(non gaming) it's not in use, when gaming I can use about half of my swap, my problem is that loading things back from swap is so slow(oh, and I want to cache more, so my less common aps boot faster, as is they can take a little bit to launch).

I'm thinking that I only need about 2GB, but 4GB is cheaper in a GB/cost comparison...

Bare in mind I use OS X (which eats 1gb itself :P) and I have at least 1 virtual machine with no less than 512mb ram (I need linux :P), along with shiretoko (firefox), and least 1 text editor (and some other apps) open for weeks/months at a time...

4GB it is then, and yeah, better to go overkill with it than need more later(I need to buy a PS3 first though, otherwise I'll never get it, I've had almost the right amount since it came out, I just keep diving into it all the time, then having to wait till I get paid to afford it again, when I buy something else :P).

built it myself, so age isn't hard to factor in. It's 2.2Ghz dualcore though, so it's good enough.

Problem with 8GB is that that's about two and a half times as expensive as 4GB...

4GB is overkill for now, although the idea of 8GB is interesting, since I could(theoretically) store the entire contents of my first HD(operating system less home folder) in ram(OK, so I can do that with 4GB but then I'd not have enough RAM left for things to actualy run)...

your linking an unfinished story? Why not finish it?

bump

It's been unfinished since Dec '07.
And my plans for the story were too ambitious, it would take me about 400k more words to get it done, so I'm just too lazy. This next Nov I have plans for a much shorter and sweeter novel, which I can finish in a month.
I posted the link here because I was bored, and I had just given the link to my girlfriend, so I figured what the heck.

...oh btw, bump.

why'd you plan a story so big? the goal is to break a fairly small mark(which I think is there just to scare people who are unwilling to try), you have about 50 words there(which is 0.1%, not a bad start given that you've got a month to write it in).

I'm considering looking into some of the other competitiony things they do, see if I can find one that's more intresting.

Worried about my hard drive BUMP:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=882397

my main HDs older than you'd think(from a computer I've had for a year that was over 6 years old then, so quite a bit of time on it(40GB is nothing now though, wasn't back then, still. I like it, it's a small thing, it get's hot, but at the same time it's not failing, so I've no real complaints(oh, yeah, 1. If I run the CPU temp thing from a liveCD I'm generating about 10% less heat, in comparison to with the HD in use :P))), and my second HD is rarely in use, unless there's a reason for it(it's just under a year old, I intend to swap my HDs around some time in the next year though(using a liveCD to move content from the second HD to a new HD with more space, then reinstalling on the 250GB HD that's my second drive)).

this is on a desktop though, I'm sure HDs are much harder to replace and maintain on a laptop(shouldn't be logically, but I'm sure they are(logic would dictate making things like HDs and RAM replaceable without trouble getting it back inside the case)), I do have hopes for getting a laptop at some point(I've always fancied the idea of running a linux distro with a few fancy effects running, see what people think as they walk past :P )

your missing BUMP(that ones for you).

And what problem? the heat?

I took mine out the the metal thing that holds my HDs together, it's currently sitting on a wooden grill just outside of my case so it doesn't cause as much heat, if I can find my webcam I'll picy it.

I don't think the computer generates too much heat, but then again my computer could account for me being warm even though it's cold outside and I have a window open...
