I've decided to make the move to hardy(already installed on a seperate partition for testing, I've just been a little afraid to use it for very long in 1 go till now), so I'm planning to try everything I can right before the switch...(including running viruses under wine :P), anyone got any ideas as to what I should try first?
here's my list of what I want to do: see the absolute highest resolution my graphics card can support by editing Xorg to way above recomendations
windows has all the fun, so I wanna try viruses too
sudo rm -rf is well know, I want to find other fun commands(last thing I'mn gonna do, this this is easy from command line
animated backgrounds - I had one once, but now I can't work out how I did it, I intend to get it back
open all progrtams at once, and just see how far 1GB of ram lasts.

Might I BUMP a suggestion: Try to suspend when you are playing movies in every backend (Mplayer/Xine/etc.) and playing music from terminal and downloading a torrent and copying a large file to/from/both an NTFS partition and burning [X|K]Ubuntu 8.04 for your friends while Compiz is in Expo mode. (Be creative.)

If that doesn't severely BUMP up your system try hibernate.

yeah i know the swap is huge my next comp is gonna have 10~20GB of swap and 8GB of ram on a x86_64

It appears that the total combined ram usage of every program in the menus is around 750MB, which is tiny(OK, so I was unable to open firefox 2 and firefox 3 at the same time, even though I have both installed, but thats marginal). Given that I opened all my wine applications(IEs4Linux and notepad, that's a lot or ram and CPU usage just there) and a lot of browsers(including several running different versions of Geko(the engine in firefox), opera and iCab under the Apple compatability layer, whatever that's called.
Might I recomend free -m if you want to see smaller numbers, Don't run free -gthough, since it's very inacurate :(

There's a text file to make your command line customised like mine, I've forgoten it now though.

OOh, for those that are intrested viruses run terribly under wine, that's just no fun(I deliberatly ubplugged my net first, not completely sure why, when the worst thing that happened was that I had to manualy close one of them because it was eating up a ton of CPU power, nothing even tried networking...)

I got my animated background back(I just wanted to remember how I did it, and why I stopped using it), but then VLC stopped playing video's quite right(not sure how to explain it), so I abandonded that.

my graphics card can handle 1600x1200, but broke when I tried the next one up(aprox. 2050x1500), either way that was cool.

I didn't find any fun commands to run from the terminal, I was too tired to try at that time, and went to bed. In the morning I installed over gutsy with windows so I could play bioshock.
