Sorry to be a pest but I want this to work so bad and Ive looked everywhere and there is no straightforward guide for doing it!

How do I get the XBox 360 guitar to work for Frets on Fire? I plug it in, and the light flashes but I cant map the keys in game!

Ugh! Im at wits end trying to figure this out! How do I get Frets on Fire to see my guitar? If I go to device manager it does show up there as a USB device. When I plug it in, the light flashes on the guitar but it does not stay on. Ive looked everywhere but it seems like some people just plugged it in and went, mine wont do that though.

How is it the wrong forum? People ask for help installing devices on this forum all the time! Search for help installing wifi cards ad video drivers and 70% of them are in the beginners forum. Im a beginner as well and just looking for some quick help getting my device to work.

Hi I would tend to agree that this is above beginners, and by the way you already have another thread about this topic in a different forum. :(

I put it in two different forums because I have not got any help on the other one so I figured some different people would see it here. Gee sorry to start something.

I tried posting on the FoF forums, but no response there. Is it not possible to use it on linux?

thread title changed to reflect nature of help request. Please use the thread title to sum up, briefly, what you need help with.

Groveling does not convey technical information and is unlikely to result in good solutions. Please use a descriptive thread title so that those users who can help you know that they can help you.

I am also moving this thread to the gamers' forum. This falls somewhat outside the scope of Absolute Beginners.

Duplicate threads merged.
If no one answers your first thread do not make another for the same topic.
Also please wait 24hrs patiently before bumping.

Let me take a stab at an answer (as everyone else seems to have critisised, wrongly or rightly, your thread placement)...

I doubt very much that a guitar is going to work out of the box with linux. Does it work with windows (and if so which version?)

You'll almost vertainly need a driver (or kernel module) to use it. You'll have to look for that, if one even exists for linux. Happy hunting!

Several treads regarding Frets on Fire and xbox controllers have emerged in the past. A quick search would yield quite a few actually.

Here's one of the more informative ones:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=404577&highlight=xbox+360+controller+linux

Getting xbox controllers to work with linux is a trivial task but certainly not impossible.

Hi guys, if you havn't already found the solution, you have to install the driver for the x-plorer controller. I have the source files here, but the directions are on another thread somewhere here.
