Hi all,

I'm quite new to linux and ubuntu but have been running it on my laptop (dual boot) for quite a while.

I was recently going through a friend's basement and found and old sun netra t1 server that he wasn't using. I decided to liberate this and see if I can put it to some use.

The problem. The box has no video output so to install ubuntu I think I will have to do some sort of automated installation.

I was going through the tutorial posted here

https://help.ubuntu.com/7.04/installation-guide/hppa/appendix-preseed.html

but the example file seems to be gone!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to do a full automated install on this box, and then access it remotely ? (ssh ? )

Any advice would be appreciated!

(or if you have suggestions for what I might do with this box that would also be helpful... I was thinking a) firewall b) fileserver c) torrent box )

Justino,

I'm not 100% certain but I think you can use the serial port as a console to do the installation.

Did you manage to get Ubuntu up and running on the Netra T1. I've just bought one and should be delivered sometime this week. The intention was to put Solaris on it, but I've been using Ubuntu on my laptop for perl scripting for sometime and have achieved a great deal with it cause it's so easy and reliable.
