Site is still down. Whoever is hosting / administrating this is doing a poor job unfortunately.

The Ubuntu Studio team are aware.

They have informed their hosting providers who are working hard to resolve the issue.

Other Ubuntu sites hosted by the same provider are also down:

The torrents should still be up no?

A search on any popular bittorrent site brings it up for me.

You mean you actually have it working? I have been struggling just to get sound out of Rosegarden and other apps for weeks. If you know anything about M-Audio USB interfaces, there is an extended thread at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=148467
if you want to help; a lot of us are having problems. My guess is very few people are able to actually use Ubuntu Studio. I would appreciate success stories if you have any; it might be encouraging.

Ive just set up lamp server on a system here with nothing to do on it...I only have a slow connection, but maybe someone would like to use me as a mirror...at least for forums...my mate is really enthusiastic about this distro, and between us we would be happy to help...I dont know who to contact, but maybe this message would get to someone useful....

Erm ok?

BTW, I have found that the download mirrors are working, but I daresay the respiratories are down, so that would complicate full install and set up??

My mate had it running beautifully on a 64bit beast...it was fantastic...yes he had some issues, mostly compiling a fully functional 64bit r-t kernel, but in the end it was stunning...and that is why im offering host space in my previous post basically...we want to see it continue to develop and work for others.

<jaw dropping to floor> With 64 bit, too?

I run the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine, just so things like Flash will work. I have 64 Studio on another partition...just a different set of problems.

Did you document how you compiled the 64-bit realtime kernel anywhere? If I could have Ubuntu Studio running in 64-bit, I might replace the 64 Studio, just because I like the look and feel of Ubuntu better.

What are you using for soundcards and/or interfaces? Maybe my M-Audio Ozone is the problem. Few people seem to have much success with it. No one is able to use MIDI, and a lot of people have problems with the audio.

IM running the 32 bit version, on a dell dual xeon machine with 1gig of ecc with 2 2.0 dual core processors and 2 x 23" lcd's on a agp video card, it runs flawless. ALl hardware works 100%. Fast too, However im selling the box and switching to a 8 core macpro, :)

Although their site is down, it is possible to download the Ubuntu Studio through Softpedia.com.

Just thought you should know. BTW, it is a torrent download.

They also offer a How-To on softpedia here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Install-Ubuntu-Studio-54514.shtml

Aarontjones ,I'm wondiering if I read more into this than you meant. By "running beautifully" I read "able to produce multimedia content, all audio interfaces and soundcards are working" or something like that. Is that what you meant? Are you having all the production tools running smoothly and working together, such that you can make audio productions that other people can listen to?

I have had Ubuntu Studio working since May, but have not been able to get my audio interface, JACK, and the applications to play well together.

Site is still down...

This is total rubbish!

How can ubuntustudio.org remain missing in action all this time and nobody knows anything!

What is going on?

Isn't it about time somebody in authority step forward and make a statement?

Or should we start writing stories about how Ubuntu is disappearing and nobody has the guts to say why!

What rubbish!

The site is back up... sort of. They have a link or two and they mention that Google cache will work for getting to the iso.

The following showed up on Planet Ubuntu concerning Mythbuntu, which as far as I know is a sister site of ubuntustudio.org:

As many people have undoubtedly seen, www.mythbuntu.org has been down for an extended period of time. We encountered lots of unforeseen problems with our previous web host, and had mistakingly not made backups of the site or of the MySQL database that it was contained upon.

The site has been rebuilt on a new web host with as much of the cached data as we could build from.

Can anyone tell me if I can install UbuntuStudio from the ISO install disk overlayed on to Gutsy 64?
