1. Halo 2 will not run on Linux at this time using WINE/Crossover/Cedega or anything else.

2. We know, but that doesn't make it any more able to run with WINE.

3. That idea has been mentioned here on the WINE Application Database (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=8117) but not results have been posted. If you own this game and want to try it out, please be sure to post any finding on the WINE database site.

Halo 2 is still DirectX 9.

It may eventually be playable under WINE. The original Halo already is.
Also the goal of WINE is not to make the latest and greatest games playable under linux.
This takes a back burner to keeping existing applications and useful software running.

P.S. We don't need anymore Microsoft bashing here, the question of this thread has been answered, lets not drag it into the ground.
I'm not a fan of them myself, but if you feel the need to start a flamewar take it somewhere else.

windows forum for the flamewar -you know you love it.

Give the guys at wine some time - they are progressing fast, it will be running in the future.

what the wine people have to do to get this one to work is the online activation ( WGA i think) and the OS check thats built into the game, its tough work I know, but they can do it

....WGA worked under WINE back in the day until Microsoft fixed the "bug".

Please research your complaints next time before deciding what the WINE devs "have to do".
