Hi.
I currently have a mandrake 8.0 box running my webcam (http://www.xmastree.34sp.com/webcam/webcam.html), it's also acting as a proxy server for my LAN. Lately it's been playing up, losing the time (I've installed a new battery...) and sometimes won't turn on at all ot it turns itself off.
I have another motherboard, and enough bits to make a new one before I pull this one out, so I'm planning to put ubuntu on it. Probably 5.04
I also plan to use it as a dial-in server so I can have free internet at home. Something I completely failed to acheive with mdk8. All I could do was dial up and log into the linux box with telnet. Does the linux box need to be the gateway for the LAN? It's not at the moment, I have a router provided by my isp.
Can it be done?
It'll be a PIII 500 with 128MB RAM, possibly more, and a 8.2GB drive. I have a choice of NICs, but I will probably put two Cnet Pro200s in there. (Davicom 9102 chip). Is this supported by default?
