So I had WoW running fine in Xubuntu 7.04 using:

aoss wine "/path/to/WoW.exe"

I just did a system update which included an update to wine, and now sound is a little quirky. It works fine, but as soon as I switch to the desktop or another application, the sound stops. No bringing it back w/o restarting WoW.

Anyone have an idea how to work around this?

Thanks!

I had the exact problem that you are describing. Just downgrade to wine 9.41 using synaptic.

Thank you! This worked. I've never had to downgrade before. Amazing how easy it is! I love Ubuntu.

I know you have fixed this problem, but for anybody else with it... the way I solved this problem was switching the game to a fullscreen version of "Windowed Mode". Hardly any noticble difference between that and actual fullscreen (for me anyway) and it fixed the sound problem. That way you don't have to downgrade your Wine :)
