I can finally play Battle Isle 2 again :D

Even with Dosbox, I have been unable to run this game under windows, due to memory issues. Ubuntu and Dosbox runs it like a charm.

I have installed Dosbox, but when I try to run, it shows this error:

dosbox: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libvorbisenc.so.2: invalid ELF header

Be sure to check out Dosemu as well, it doesn't emulate the processor so it can run even DOS games intended for pentium-class CPUs.

slux, are you using the Ubuntu Hoary package, or some other dosemu build? I haven't had much luck in getting anything other than text-based games running with it.

Isn't it wonderfully acid?

Even DOS emulation is better on Linux than it is on Windows... with the exact same emulator.

I'm able to run Strife - a Doom engine game - full speed! With the Windows version I had to frameskip to about 6 or 7 frames per second in order to do so, on the exact same hardware.

I have Shivers. It installs on msdos and win95, but the setup.exe is for win95, so how do I install it using the dos method in dosbox? The other games I have are the same I think. They are made to install on dos and win95/win3.1. This is my first time messing with dos games. I am a newbie about them. I also want to get doom for dos. How many doom games are there? I'm not sure which one(s) to get. Thanks.
