Hello everyone,

I have downloaded Ubuntu recently and installed version 5 on my old computer (cpu: 400 AmD,
creative labs model 6610, hdd 8 Gigabite, 130 mb of main memory) .The graphic mode did not appear thus I tried to configure xserver xorg in the recovery mode with the following command
sudo gedit /etc/Xll/xorg.conf to insert the data of my monitor. The answer of the program was
(gedit:4283) gtk warning**:cannot open display.

I have tried to clear the problem several times without success, when I installed the program for the first time my monitor only shows a yellow line on top, several times vaguely “ubuntu” across the screen, flickering all the time.

Because I am a newbie with Linux ubuntu I find this result disappointing. Your answer might help.

Regards Rich
