This is the ultimate PC. Just built about 2 weeks ago, need to sell as I'm looking to get a laptop to save space. I might have to move, I truthfully don't know where I'll be staying the next couple weeks, and I can't carry this around with me.
Components:
Asus Vento 3600 Gaming Case
OCZ GameXStream 600W PSU
Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Processor (64 Bit)
Gigabyte M61P-S3 AM2/SATA/DDR2 Motherboard
2GB OCZ Platinum DDR2-6400 800MHz RAM Sticks
2x 320GB Hard Drives
2x LG 18X SATA DVD Burners
Floppy drive and card reader combo
2x Thermaltake Smart Fans (Blue lighted, w/ automatic speed adjustment)
Samsung 206BW Widescreen 20" LCD Monitor
Logitech 2.1 Speaker Set
Plantronics Audio Headset w/ Microphone
Ubuntu Linux 7.04 (64-Bit version!) is installed, I also have XP if you would like a dual-boot.
All components were bought brand new within the last month and work perfectly! These are also the highest quality parts, I spent literally about a month researching components before I bought anything. I looked up tons of reviews both on quality and on compatibility with Ubuntu, and I haven't had any problems at all.
Very nice looking too, futuristic case with blue lighting.
This computer is great, I really love it. I don't want to sell but I am forced to because of my situation.

I don't see how you could research parts for a month and then buy the X2 over a C2D, unless your hardcore AMD fan. Nice system though, I just built 2 systems though.

256MB NVidia GeForce 7300LE (PCI Express). I'm not a big gamer, so I just got a decent card for nice desktop effects and stuff. Motherboard has PCI-Express though, so you can add the nicest cards available.
About the CPU, I prefer AMD because they seem to be more pro open source, but the main reason would probably be that AMD is more oriented towards 64-Bit computing. Cheaper too.

I suppose that is why everyone stays away from intel chipsets with Ubuntu.
/sarcasm
How is AMD more oriented toward 64-bit computing? They have a 64-bit processor, so does intel so how is one more oriented?
Cheaper yes, around $50 cheaper. I suppose if that is what your looking for is cheap, but you pointed out that you researched parts for a month and the C2D is a better bang for your buck.
:EDIT:
Actually just checked, and the E6300 is only around $15 more (above price is for E6400), both of these which compare to the X2 5600+. The E4300 falls in there somewhere too and it is around $35 cheaper than the 5600+
But to each his own

AMD has been making 64 bit processors for a while, Intel is basically just starting. I've heard better things about AMD and Linux.
Either way my point is the computer is very fast I really don't care what the cpu chip says on the top I just need to sell it asap.

Which core 2 duos are 64 bit? I'm going to replace this with a laptop since I'll be on the move, and most of the cheap laptops are core 2 duos. Do you know if the T7200 etc. are 64-bit? Are they fully 64 bit, can I use the Ubuntu AMD64 version?

ALL Core 2 Duo's are 64 bit. The reason that the CD is called AMD64 is because AMD came out with it first. If you go to http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download you will see that it says 64 bit for AMD and Intel computers. It is the same CD.
More info about it here, but they are compatible

It would be really useful if this information could go into the mobo database. Maybe if you post here consider to post in the hardware section. It really helps others before they buy a motherboard.
