I am looking for a live cd (preferably) with E17. I have heard it looks really good, and I want to try it out for myself. I don't mind what it's based on, just that it's free and works.

The development version is at:
http://www.elivecd.org/gb/Download/Development/ (http://www.elivecd.org/gb/Download/Development/)
(This is the one with the suspect installer, but it is fine as a LiveCD)
You could always try ComFusion (http://pollolinux.blogia.com/) (previously known as Uberyl)- it has E17 as an alternative to Gnome/Beryl. (but is now 1.4Gb, so its a LiveDVD, not CD)
But I don't think either is using a fully up-to-date E17. You'd have to get that from SVN and it is da#n difficult to install and setup from scratch!

Elive is so beautiful. I showcased it to some relatives in Croatia and they are totally hooked to it more than any other I showed them. I think I may start using that OS as well, but since it is Debian-based, I can always try to add kde and gnome as well..
It looks really evolved.
If I installed Elive 0.7 unstable, could I upgrade via synaptic to Elive Gem 1.0?

uhmm well, in the previous releases, elive have problems in dist-upgrading , i believe this is still the case now. so better stay with 0.7 or install completeley 1.0

No you can't Gem Has really been worked on with a lot of new scripting
and is stable very stable you can never upgrade more than 1 updated version ie ubuntu 6.10 will not upgrade to 7.10, that goes for most distros as well. the basic Elive is very good but the big difference is when you download the themes and realy set it up the live disc does it no justice at all it needs to be installed he also has the link on the site for E17 testing if you really want to dabble. Put it like this in 8 months Nothing has stayed more than a couple of days till i remove reboot ubuntu Gems been their 3 weeks and i'm not wanting to run Feisty no way.

elive gem 1.0 is well worth making a donation for, it is the most beautiful OS in existence....ever!

I am starting to agree with the beauty part. It runs flawlessly and looks beautifully. My new favorite. I tried adding kde and fluxbox to it via synaptic, but may need to add them up somehow in entrance.. I wish I knew how, but for now, I'll just stick with e17.
