Cups of Ubuntu

What are the cups of ubuntu thingys on the profiles? I seem to have one showing. Is this the default, or have I gained one somehow?

I'm a bit confused too about the whole ubuntu - coffee thing ... is it because ubuntu is brown and coffee is brown (ish) too? Or is there an altogether more sinister reason?
