I've been using Feisty for a little over 3 weeks now & I'm loving it. I really want to get down to the nitty gritty of linux & CLI. My question is, does one need to learn Unix to really get a solid hold of linux and command line?
I apologize in advance if this is a silly question.

No. But you'll automatically learn about Unix like operating systems when you learn Linux based OS. Guides and links to CLI are on other threads on these forums. One great resource to Linux is IBM's Developerworks (http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux).
Also check Kyrals terminal for beginners (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=73885).

You mean Unix as opposed to Linux? No, there's no particular reason to. Linux and Unix command line environments are mostly alike, and I don't think it's really worth making a distinction (to a user).
