Install libgavl0 in synaptic.
This looks pretty neat, I'm trying to compile from source.

I found the debian package on ubuntu.com (http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/graphics/openmovieeditor). So many dependencies... . I had to download 12 to get this thing to work.
Edit: ALright, I got no effects when I installed this. I can't find out where that guy got all his effects, but on his site he mentioned one package. Here's the link to get it: http://osdir.com/ml/video.gephex.user/2005-06/msg00019.html

How does it compares to cinelerra? I mean, interface, formats, etc...
I've also tried to install the gutsy packages with no luck.
