Alright i have spent the last month or so looking all over for a direct answer to my problem the last time i tried any of the guides i messed up and i had to reinstall my ubuntu.
i have all the current updates, i have restricted drivers enabled and installed and i also went to ATI offical website and downloaded the newest linux drivers. (my friend said this would help it did not) i want to run beryl, i tried to get desktop effects working but it says composite extension unavailble, i heard about fglrx, and don't know what it is, but i heard that i have to install it to make beryl work.

btw what is compositing? exactly.
