[SOLVED] Personal customisations

Hi all. I'm not exactly new to Ubuntu but feel like a novice in some aspects. I have Xubuntu server using KDE desktop.
I keep hearing of how customisable Ubuntu is but cant seem to find the tweaks/tutorials (call me lazy but i have looked) that make it sound so cool. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some cool ways to personalise my Ubuntu.
