i have an ATI radeon x850 pro and a hard time getting my comp to run beryl...
i've been using this tutorial
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1547638&postcount=7
and on the 1st step i do this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=263851
but when i do this:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
i get this:
===========================
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ubuntu-desktop: Depends: desktop-effects but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
===========================

that doesn't sound too good...
please help! thanks.

Maybe you could look for the package "desktop-effects" and install that first.
