Irc Server

I want to set-up an irc server. Windows or Linux np for me. But i don'r know how can i do it :S. I thought that you can help me. How can i set-up an irc server?.I prefer Windows...

iircd i think was the one i used its fairly easy its a Linux daemon standard config file driven service. It should be in the repos, i know it is for Debian I'm at work right now and don't have access to either adebian or ubuntu box.

I'd note that irc servers can go through alot of bandwidth very quickly.

On windows, what you can do is install the hybrid irc server VM from vmware.com, in a virtual machine.

also I just remembered, there is something called synchronet that would host a web/telnet bbs/irc/ftp as well.
