hey, I'm looking for a laptop running ubuntu. I'd like one with a cd-rw/dvd. >20 GB on the harddrive. I'd like to have 1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, DirectX 7 level graphics card ( minimum req. for counter-strike source) in case I feel like using this computer for C-S, but not totally necessary. Also, a wireless card so I can use my cable connection without having to plug the comp. in. any offers or places to look?

an intel or nvidia integrated board should serve you well ... i just got a lappy w/ dual core intel centrino / 2gb of RAM and intel graphics / wireless ... it all works, esp. w/ Fedora 7 - all out of the box - the same could probably be true for ubuntu (i just have kubuntu disks, and it's not quite as easy) ...

Go with an "Intel" chipset, Intel best supports open source drivers therefore installation of Ubuntu should be flawless and for graphics, use NVIDIA.
I also believe that the brand of memory that you use plays an important role in performance. You should try to go for "Kingston" RAM.
You can also check out: www.dell.com/open for their line of computers.
I hope I was helpful. :)
