Hey Everyone,
I am looking for an AV for Ubuntu and I don't like Clam. I downloaded AVG and Avast and I'm trying to decide which is better for Ubuntu 7.0.4. Could people help me decide? My computer is advanced enough to run either one so it's not a question of which has lower system requirements.
Thanks in advance,

I would go for NOD32 personally.

I take it he is looking for a free one. I would say I prefer AVG maybe because the times I tried Avast on Linux I had bad luck with it

I was looking for a free one so NOD32, while a FANTASTIC product, would not be good for me. If however, there are other free ones (other than Clam of course) that people think I should run other than Avast and AVG, then I would welcome suggestions, I just saw those companies gave out free Linux AV's and downloaded them. I have one more question about this. I ran AVG for Linux before but got rid of it because it reported hundreds of files that were compressed files that it complained about the length of the file name. It reported so many that I didn't want to hunt through all of them to find out which could be virus' and which were legitimate. If I had gotten rid of all of them my OS would be ruined. jrusso2, what were your problems with Avast?
Thanks again,
Matt Segstro

I would also like to know what issues the poster had with Avast! I just installed it and my first scan is currently running.
