Has anybody found a walkthrough/tutorial for freeciv that really holds your hand like you've never played it at all before?

This is the obvious site: http://www.freeciv.org/index.php/Tutorials

But, it seems that all of those tutorials are for strategy, not basic gameplaying mechanics.

I really really want to learn this game but I haven't found a tutorial that shows basic gameplay. Any thoughts welcome!

(ps. I've never played civ before either so maybe that's why I'm lost)

Turns out, the best way to learn is not to read the "tutorials" first. Instead, the manual explains all those small details: http://www.freeciv.org/index.php/Game_Manual

Thanks a bunch for this. I found the game to be a bit confusing, even though I played Civ 2 and 3 :/

There is also a tutorial scenario in 2.1; it follows you a small small bit on the way in the beginning of the game.
