Having tried a few, some of which I have felt a dislike like no other for, I now use Pan and can recommend it - see http://pan.rebelbase.com/features/

Thnx for your reply, but it seems that the software is not for console. I'm searching for a console program

Two recommendations, but neither are perfect:

pine : http://www.washington.edu/pine

The big problem with pine is the licensing. Otherwise a great program. Adding usenets and posting is a cinch. I've been using pine for usenet reading/posting for about 10 years.

emacs : http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs

Emacs can be run with the '-nw' option to use a terminal (rather than X). The emacs mode/program you want is 'gnus'. There is a bit of a learning curve to using emacs and gnus.

Hope this helps.

Have you already tried Cone (http://www.courier-mta.org/cone/) ?

Thnx for the replies, I found a good program with Google. It is called newspost and is available in the ubuntu repos. I would recommand this for usenet posting, it supports auto generating sfv and par files. It has alot of switches so you should check out the manpage.

I started in tin (http://www.tin.org/) many years ago and moved to slrn (http://www.slrn.org/).
