View Full Version : Getting WoW to work on ATI X1100 (also called X200, go figure)

I have been running WoW in Windows XP for a while now, and I can get anywhere from 10-50 FPS depending on where I'm at. Running it in OpenGL on Windows is a no go, I get about .5 FPS; yes, that's one half FPS. I have recently starting dualbooting Ubuntu Feisty and I would love to be able to switch completely, but the only thing keeping me from switching is WoW. I have installed Wine and gotten WoW to run, it loads into the world, my cursor is there and works fine, the graphics are great, but I only get about 3 FPS. I have done all of the tweaks suggested (registry entry even though I'm not using it in OpenGL, turning down effects, the SET parameters), but nothing seems to work. I'm using an Acer 5100 laptop with the integrated X200 or X1100 graphics. When I run glxgears I get about 1100 FPS, which is pretty slow I've heard, so maybe it's a problem with my graphics drivers (fglrx) and not Wine.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I will be completely switching to Linux if I can get this to work.

Same problem, x200 is one of the most annoying cards ever made by ATI, it's decent to play games on lower settings, but certain games are death to it on linux (DO NOT PLAY PREY EVER)
