1) It isn't a must have at all
2) It is not open source, so its a moot point
3) We already have clamav, which is open source

Perhaps you should take the suggestion someone else provided (in another of your threads) and explore creating your own repository rather than flooding this forum with requests and rating your own threads excellent.

1. I answered there why i canīt do it.

2. Sure i am Rating my Request Wishes. Why not ? Itīs the best way to make a democratic decision what is worth to get backported and what not. What do you mean ? I think you didnīt understod this Feature of vBulletin.

In anyway i thank you very much that you are open for active Users and new Ideas. Thatīs what OpenSource Soul is for...... :-#

Humanity to others...... ;) if you wanīt communitys where nobody can say his opinion and is inactive or not innovating go back to Windows.

If you got a Problem with me send me a PM - but donīt flood other ones Threads and disturb discussions.

I reported your Offtopic Post with Request to delete it and my Response that i wa s typing now. Thatīs nothing what brings us anything.

Indeed, so please don't flame me when I'm the second person to suggest the same thing and note the flooding. :) Humanity to others also means listening to what others have to say, especially when two or more people tell you something.

if you wanīt communitys where nobody can say his opinion and is inactive or not innovating go back to Windows.
Funny, you're suggesting I go to Windows for expressing my opinion? Speaking of Windows, there goes your point - right out the window. :)

If you got a Problem with me send me a PM - but donīt flood other ones Threads and disturb discussions.

Please don't troll, by posting this message it's not flooding, and it's not disturbing any discussion. Why should I send you a PM? Judging by your response, it probably wouldn't matter, and you'd probably just report it anyway, right? :P I'm posting this to public so others may see it. I don't need a lecture on open source or philosophy.

Great, then I will return the favor by reporting your flame and adding you to my ignore list, good day.

These have all been packaged for Debian already and have outstanding track records. If you can get permission from Panda to make Ubuntu packages, talk to the developers about getting it into Multiverse.

Mhhh, I thought the rating system is here for the others. When I post for example a solution to a problem the others can give it a good rating...but maybe I did understand it wrong

Panda might not be opensource but it is still better than ClamAV by far. Oh i e-mail Panda to try to get them to add them to the Multiverse Repisitories or atleast give the Ubuntu development team permission to do so.

IT sux as a windowze antivirus, worst bloated piece of crap, last time i used it was back in 199x, and ocasionally i keep having to remove the crap from friends computers (their grip is strong in Portugal ... they have people paying them monthly fees for using their platinum edition), it will most definetly suck as a Linux antivirus.
It's not open-source, nobody has permission to distribute it, it's not a candidate for backporting, its not even a candidate for packaging.

Panda is a good AV on the Windows platform. I've been using it for the past two years and never got infected with malware.

On the other hand, Panda for Linux (as you could have read in the Ubuntu Wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PandaAntivirus)) is mostly used in servers to scan for files that could infect Windows computers connected to those servers. And although it is freeware, you will not get virus definitions updates unless you buy the product.
